Reading Books Makes Me a Writer

"Reading with an open mind and an open heart is transformative." - Hong Kong-Bestselling author Cheryl Strayed

National Reading Month

The Department of Education (DepEd) issued DepEd Memorandum No. 175, s. 2018, declaring November as the 2018 National Reading Month. This NRM aims "to promote love for reading, and to celebrate the diversity of learners and culture through reading."

This year's theme is Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan. NRM culmination is highlighted by the nationwide story reading on November 27 of every year by virtue of Republic Act No. 10556 as "Araw ng Pagbasa". All schools in elementary and secondary in the country would observe this a regular working holiday.

Have I killed My Father?

I feel guilty of what I have done before to my sick and bed-ridden father. He died at the age of 76. I have prayed to the Lord to give my father the rest he needed from his lingering sickness.

Hilarion, my father was bed-ridden for several months of the sickness which I didn’t know personally. My mother didn’t tell why my father was sick though we’re living in one roof. I was actually supporting my aged parents. They were in their senior citizen status.

Every day I worked in the Church as a custodian. I seldom went home. I stayed in the Church for I have also to watch it as a night guard. Our house wasn’t far from the Church meetinghouse. From time to time, I also went home, attended to the needs of my parents, of my kids, and of course, of my wife.

Father's Eternal Principles

The parents, teachers, and other school stakeholders gather for the first PTA assembly inside our school campus.

As a school head of Balabag Elementary School, La Carlota City, I share to them the eternal principles behind a father. This is a reminder to all of them that the coming third Sunday of the month of June is a special day. It is Father's Day.

Father is always used when we say our prayer. We address our heavenly Father for He is the great provider. Father, therefore is a divine, sacred title for that matter. It is no joke to be addressed as a father. Likewise, it should be respected in a most reverent manner.

With this special occasion for a father, I am also reminded of the eight values which my late father has taught and influenced me when he was still living. One of them is "taking time out for God".

'Nothing Compares to Serving a Mission'

Seeing a son leaving for a mission is very tough to bear for a father, especially if that son is assigned to the other part of the world. Nevertheless it is the amazing day! Blessings are innumerable. There is no reason to procrastinate it. It takes a lot of sacrifice.

Father hugs tightly his leaving son for a mission Elder Minson is tightly hugged by his caring pa. Fulfilling this mission takes a lot of sacrifices of financial matters, staying away from a loved ones for 2 years, giving up studies, and bearing the language barriers, among others.

The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are doing their best to build a city of Zion here on earth again. They have three-fold missions: to proclaim the gospel, to perfect the saints, and to redeem the dead.

Missionary work falls on the first mission, that is, proclaiming the gospel to every kindred, tongue and nations. Our youngest son, Gilbor Camporazo, Junior has accomplished this sometime in 2008. He was assigned to Butuan Philippines Mission, somewhere in Mindanao island.

Father's Role and His Family

In this momentous day of all fathers, I am always reminded of my lovely family all through the years... I really love them, provide for their needs spiritually, economically, among others. My wife and I do love them...

Importance of Family

There is no important in life than a family. For I know no success could value more than a family solidarity. My extended family who gives me the value of being a great father and provider under the inspiration of the Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for raising them, bringing them up according to the "nurture and admonition of the Lord." In this Father's Day, I realize the importance of a family in which I never fail them for I know family could be together forever.

Running Away From Home

This is my unforgettable experience why I defied my parents and ran away from home. And later I realized how I caused them worry and trouble. But they kept on finding me, that's why I was remorseful and blamed myself why I did that. Did I deserve to be reprimanded and punished?

"He's already asleep. Don't disturb him!"

My father Hilarion and me
My father Hilarion and Me
This is what I overheard from my mother before, telling my father not to bother me anymore.

This was the moment wherein nanay was so considerate about me after I attempted to run away from home when I was about 11 years then.

I remember late that night, my father scolded me for no apparent reason. I couldn't remember what misdeed I had. Without my parent's knowledge I went downstairs passing the kitchen's door and rested in one of the posts beneath our mixed nipa-wood house, eavesdropping what my parents were talking about me.
