Carissa's Day

Today marks the 22nd birthday of Ma. Carissa Trenuela-Camporazo Inday Carissa as we fondly call her is the wife of our youngest son, Gilbor Camporazo, Jr.

She had been married to our youngest son to Cebu Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is a woman whose affections are enthusiastic and expansive. She does her best in a relationship where she can have plenty of space to roam free and explore unknown territories.

She has a sense of being philosophical. She has her own outlook in life to treat any trials and challenges as an opportunities to prove her worth. She is optimistic. For being a such, she tries her luck on some business which she believes could make her successful and be able to help her own family.

We're 64; What We Can Do?

"Happy birthday," greeted the hubby. "Happy birthday, too," replied the wife.

This is not rare for there are couples who are celebrating their birthday together for they're born in the same month and date. And there are many married couples holding this birthday.

Happy together

I don't know if this rare and unique one. My wife and I have a synchronous birthday celebration. Today, we jointly celebrate our synchronous 64th birthday.

"Are we meant for each other?" We ask ourselves in unison. Only God knows. Nevertheless we keep our birthday for 43 faithful years of marriage. We just do it in the most humble and simply way for we can't afford to throw an extravagant birthday party. Our party is only for our six children.

My wife and I had never ever had a cake to slice and a candle to blow since we were a kid. However, upon reaching the age of 61, it was the very first time that we had our birthday cake, courtesy of our 2nd eldest daughter who is working as a cook in the eatery inside the Agora in our place.

Birthday Tribute: Why We Are Here?

This is a poem I composed while I was taking a break inside my office in the school as a tribute to Ma'm Rosario R. Arranguez, district II supervisor as she celebrates her 61st birthday anniversary, that will be held at the learning resource center of La Carlota North Elem. School. The district II which I belong handled the afternoon birthday party.

The first part of the simple program commenced with a  photo slide presentation as a glimpse of Ma'm Arranguez's happy days as a classroom teacher, as a principal and as a supervisor with the background music of 'Those Were The Days".  Then it was followed by the giving of 7 treasures by the special education integrated school teachers to Ma'm Arranguez, then by 7 roses given by school heads of three districts as they danced with the celebrant while handing in a stick of red roses.

Another ceremony was lighting of candle done by a representative from District I, II, III, Administrative, education supervisor, and the Division represented by the schools division superintendent with their respective wishes.

Sophieluscious First Birthday Party Ever

We were surprised for one of our 8 grandchildren by her spiritual actuation of an advanced child as she celebrated her first year birthday January 10.

Attended by her closed relatives and extended family, the birthday party though simple, but memorable ever.

The party started with me giving the prayer and the blessing of the foods. I invoked the presence of the Spirit of the Lord to be with us, to lead us to make this first birthday celebration of our granddaughter, Inday Sophie to be successful and full of fun and enthusiasm among the kids and even among the members of the family.

I did ask the Lord to bless her of the wisdom of the Lord that she may grow up being obedient to the Lord's commandment as she does by being obedient to her parents, grandparents, and others whom she is subject to follow for the good of everybody.

Friends, Your Thoughtfulness Makes Me Happy!

I remember some of the following lines from a song popularized by Stevie Wonder, that run this way: "For good times and bad times/ I'll be on your side forever more/ That's what friends are for..."

This is the kind of feeling I have had when I celebrated my 62nd birthday together with my wife. I was really convinced that I got a lot of friends, acquaintances and even my kins, closed and distant relatives are on the alert of expressing their simple, traditional birthday greetings. Their thoughtfulness has made me happy and felt me comfortable on how I relate my humble self to them as their friend too.

Through a modern technology like a social media, the Facebook, everyone finds it easy to relay his or her greetings. Gratefully I will never ever forget them. I have listed their names here as an expression of gratitude for their invaluable friendship.

Spiritually you've been born in covenant. You've been baptized to the Church of God. You've received the authority of the higher Priesthood of God. You've served and completed a mission for 2 years and you've been married to the temple of God. Now what are your plans for the future?

A family of your own to raise, to rear up in the "admonition and nurture of the Lord". We are happy about this and we know as your family, as your father that you won't fail us and even the Lord. Be an example of the non-believer. We're very proud of you. Move on my son. Now you're beginning to be self-reliant for having a first job. Do it well,son.

Bulaklak's Birthday Wish

The whole member of our family shared a common happiness we have had today. My wife and I early this morning spent a precious time with one of our most beloved granddaughters, Bulaklak who turned 9 years old today.

Shanley Jane Camporazo Jaud, fondly called as Bulaklak was a chubby little cute girl. She is a third grader pupil. She is a very smart girl.

Birthday Wish

After I ate my breakfast, she showed me a piece of paper with her birthday wish which she had written it last night in a grade 3 pad. It was scribbled in our local dialect, Ilonggo.

Here's the text which I translated in English:

"Birthday wish of Shanley:

1. May Jesus Christ bless me and my family.
2. May my mama and papa be in good health, my family as well.
3. May my cousins be blessed too.

And I am thankful to Jesus Christ who has helped us by saving us from sins. I am also thankful to those who have cared for me when I was sick and because of them I recovered speedily. I do love them and I do love my family. Love, Shanley"

To her cousins, she was referring to Toto Bryan and Adja.

Her mother, our 4th eldest daughter is preparing something for Bulaklak's birthday as a simple, but memorable celebration.

Her papa just sent her a ready-made cake for he was too busy working with the 4th District Congressman of Negros Occidental in their campaign sortie. Her papa was driving a service vehicle.

She celebrated her birthday with her cousins, uncle and aunties, and members of her family.

Birthday Prayer

I offered the prayer for Bulaklak's birthday. This is what I said: "Lord, we are indeed very happy today to join with our granddaughter's birthday today. We all know how her parents really love her and we all know how they work so hard to rear her up according to the nurture and admonition of Lord. Bless, Bulaklak of the wisdom which she could guide her in attaining her ambition and happiness in life.

Lead her to the path of righteousness as she stay close to the Church, as she strives to be obedient to her parents, as she never fails to read the scriptures for her spiritual growth, and as she humbles herself.

It is our faith and also it is the faith of her parents that Bulaklak may be free from any harm, that she may overcome any form of trials in her life, that she may have the good health and that she may endure to the end.

As the eldest sister of her other two sisters, Bulaklak may set the good example for them as a true and faithful member of the Church. All these things I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen"

After I prayed, she came over to me and gave me a big hug. Happy 9th Birthday, Inday Bulaklak!

And They Greet Each Other, Happy Birthday

Today marks our 61st synchronous birthday and the endurance in our life's ups and downs and as we live and even as husband and wife.

Rebing, my ever caring, loving wife, never fails of loving me, of providing my healthy emotional needs or whatever. She's able to survive of all the heartaches, troubles of any kind I caused her.

If I'm going to remarry her, I would absolutely willing without reservation to do it. For I know I need her in my life as what our theme so expressed: "I need you in my life. I need your love and care. Yes, I love you so much. I want you, I need you in my life. There's no one in this world, who can love you the way that I do. Please believe me, believe me, my love. I need you in my life."

Panie Birthday Wish

The other day, one of our six grandchildren, Stephanie Gyn, fondly known to us as Panie, celebrated her 6th birthday. She had it in a simple, austere celebration with homemade foods prepared by her mama An An.

Panie is a smart, a good dancer and talented kid. Her happy family is very proud of her.

Before her birthday, Panie asked her parents to prepare something for her to make it more sumptuous and memorable with balloons and other birthday decors.

Gigi, her aunt was kidding her and asked her: "What about if there could be no birthday party, for your parents don't have money yet? Payday is too far."

"Ti indi lang ako anay mag-six years old eh. Kun  wala sang handa o birthday party eh," (I wouldn't be turning 6 years old then if there's no celebration or birthday party.) replied Panie.
