LIS Helpful Tips

Since the introduction of LIS in 2011, teacher/advisers, school ICT coordinators, and the school heads had been encountering basic learner's profile issues and other LIS technical problems.

The learners Information System (LIS) had different concerns and issues which need to be addressed appropriately and effectively so as  to have an accurate pupil's profile especially his name, Learner Reference Number (LRN), birthdate, date of school entrance, and other related info.

Facebook groups like Learner Information System Help Desk, EBEIs Help Desk, SFRT were created to provide the online users of some technical assistance. Yet every year the same haunting problems occurred. Recently, a team of admins of SFRT and LIS Help Desk had an informal brainstorming and had come up with a better idea by categorizing the common issues into a single topic for easy referencing and to find the appropriate answer to the queries posed by the teachers.

How to Update EOSY Learner's Data

After doing some housekeeping on learner's data like some correction on your name, birthdate; correction of LRN and even deactivation of your LRN due to its multiplicity, teachers may not proceed to updating their learner's data for the end of the school year (EOSY).

Those activities are usual job for a public school teachers, even it is even facilitated by their school ICT coordinator and duly approved by the school head. On the case of multiple LRN deactivation, the central office has to approve and effect the needed deactivation. And these things fall in the beginning of school year (BOSY).

And in return, these will be finally reflected to their respective school data in Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS).

Why Should a Record Be Kept?

A historical record should be kept by the Church for missionary work, for salvation, and for future generations. As a District Church historian, I have the duty to train the different clerks and church historians of every unit under the District to update the annual histories of the district for submission to Church history archives.

Giving lecture to the clerk on church history record keeping
Five clerks, out of 8, have attended our training this morning at the La Carlota Meetinghouse.

President Mario A. Malacaman of the La Carlota Philippines District presided the training. He reminded the participants how important is the training session for the day, especially in keeping the records of the Church and also preparing the historical records of the Church for edifying the saints, for missionary work, and for the benefits of the next generations.

I conducted the training session for 3 hours, covering the following topics: the simple qualification of a clerk/church historian, the doctrinal foundation of keeping a record, the cycles of Church history preparation and collections, and the coverage of reporting a church historical events.
