5th School Cubay Elementary with Traumatized Kids

I won't forget the horrible incident that shook the school sometime in 2012 and the pupils were afraid and traumatized the pupils of my school. It seemed that I was one of them too. This happened  several minutes before noon. It's a lunch time for the pupils.

"The school is shaking," shouted the school children who were eating their lunch under the shady tree. One child was surprised upon seeing the water inside her glass was moving.

The furniture which I was sitting while reading a text message from my mobile phone was moving. I stopped for awhile and still I felt that the couch was moving slowly. I rushed outside my office and saw a group of pupils were on the ground sitting. Some of them were crying. I saw my H.E. teacher coming towards me shouting, "Sir Batyag ka may Linog?" (Sir, have you felt that there's an earthquake?)

That was the terrible experienced I have had in Cubay Elementary School, my 5th school assignment as a school principal. I saw how the pupils behaved, how the teachers assisted the confused pupils to stay out of their classroom. And I saw parents in group coming to the school fetching their respective children.

CES Pupils Gives Credence to UN Principles

In the Division of La Carlota City, the Cubay Elementary School celebrates the 68th year of the United Nations by a parade and search for Mister and Miss UN 2013. The pupils have made to realize the international sovereignty of equal rights to every nation.

The pupils from kindergarten class to grade six opened up the memorable day by a parade to the nearby place of Hacienda Parnaso where the school is located.

Dressed in their preferred country, they looked smart, lovely and amazing the way they carried themselves. Their faces were full happiness. Their supportive parents were on the look out as they enjoyed the short program after the parade.

Several pupil-candidates representing the various nations in the world tried their luck on-the-spot search for Mister and Miss United Nations.

Master Joshua Managuit, a grade 6 pupil and a cute Tweenie Labrador, a grade 5 pupil were able to make it after hurdling several patriotic questions shot by Ma'm Melanie C. Reyes.

Ninety-one percent of the total enrollment of Cubay Elementary School has attended the first day of classes. The teachers didn't waste any single minute doing the classroom routine of cleaning, sweeping, watering the plants, among others. They right away started their regular classes.

Their efforts have been largely saved by Brigada Eskwela wherein the school has been prepared two weeks before in a national week maintenance which was conducted on May 20 to May 25, 2013.

Pupils in their school uniform arrived early in the school. Parents, guardians, brothers and sisters went along with their respective school goers.

Teachers' Day: Teaching Reveals Character

Teachers are most commonly revered and idolized by their pupils or students especially by the role they play while they teach. For what they are, they produce the kind of pupils of what they exemplify or practice in their life. They teach what they are. Their true character is reflected on the manner they teach their pupils.

Cubay Elementary School, my humble school in the Division of La Carlota City celebrates this day in her own unique way through the concerted efforts of the pupils, the parents, and some external stakeholders of the school. And 'teachers teach what they are' is the basis of my short message.

Teachers' Day is a special day for every teacher. It is a time dedicated to the teachers that they may be recognized for their invaluable teaching efforts, for their outstanding achievements, for their heroic deeds in molding their pupils as a better, responsive and gainful persons someday.

Various techniques and methods of teaching reading to grade one pupils like vowel sound, phonetic combination, and correct accent and syllabic blend with appropriate picture could be used.

And one of them was recently demonstrated by Ma'm Portia M. Mallorca, OIC, schools division superintendent of La Carlota in her unannounced visit to Cubay Elementary School recently.

She handled separately the classes of my two grade one teachers, Mrs. Lelanie Suyo and Mrs. Nona S. Palanog after a 15-minute class observation and a 10-minute post conference with them. She demonstrated a simple technique in making these grade pupils read efficiently and correctly in a mother-tongue class.

School Evangelism | Children's Gospel Conversion

Does school evangelism could convert the elementary school children's faith to believe and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Redeemer?

A score and five American evangelists were here in Negros to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the various elementary schools and my school, Cubay Elementary School in the Division of La Carlota City was one of them.

10 females and 15 male ministers were here in Negros.

The Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association has been serving in the Philippines since 1985 with five major priorities: Evangelism, Church Planting, Pastor Training, an Orphanage, and the Training of the Next Generation of Evangelists. It is the primary goal of BTEA to make the gospel of Jesus Christ available to every person in the world.

Using instructional materials (IMs), the teachers could be able to make their pupils learned. This had been exemplified by the teachers of Cubay Elementary School, Division of La Carlota City in their 3rd day (October 27) in-service training (INSET) held at Learning Resource Center (LRC) in the said school.

Mrs. Ofelia N. Ayungon, special teacher of Cubay Elementary School discussed before her fellow classroom teachers some principles in using the different media; thus letting their pupils absorbed the lessons efficiently in the 3rd day morning session of their summer training.
