Anne Lei of My so-called experimented blog has left a comment in one of my posts here in this blog, RandomThoughts! by informing me that I am one of those bloggers who received this The Versatile Blogger Award. In short, I've been nominated to receive this award.

My First Versatile Blogger Award

Of course, my first reaction was to wonder why I have to receive this award.

Later I learned that it's a way of promoting one's blog and extend camaraderie with among fellow bloggers. Not bad at all!

Actually for some practical reasons I may agree that I'm one of those versatile writers in the sense that I could write various topics under the sun for I love writing. It is my philosophy in writing that as I write: I'm sharing what I've have in mind. For I know that it is in sharing that blog writers do care. It is in caring that they do love. And it is love that they're united.

My thoughts and ideas are kept on pouring out, ready to be put in writing for you to be "informed", to be "entertained", and to be "educated."

These worthy and prolific thoughts are all dedicated to you. I know it is in sharing that we care. It is in caring that we love. And it is in love that we're united and become one for Christ's name sake.

There are times, however, that we may differ from opinions, interpretations, or reactions from the issue of the day. But in any rate, we may be in one and be unified as far as everyone's welfare is concerned.

It is my stewardship, I know to be of service to you in any means of communication. And blogging is one of these media.

How To Accept Purchased Domain Name and Link to Blogger

As a first timer, I found it confusing to link my purchased domain name (PDN) to my blog. But with a trial-and-error manner and with a help from a friend. I did it.And it worked!

Accepting PDN from a Third Party

1. Log in to your godaddy account.
2. Click My Account button.
3. Click Pending Account Changes.
4. Check the box/boxes corresponding to your PDN (Purchased Domain name).
5. Click Quick Accept button atop of your PDN.
6. Done!

Linking PDN to Blogger

1. Log In to your blogger account (where your blog is hosted).
2. Click Setting.
3. Click Add Domain Name (with prefix www).
4. Click Save.
5. Done.

Wait for a few minutes. Then check your blog. Presto! It's now in the new server.

Before I went home this afternoon after attending to the needs of my teachers and supervising the different classes of our pupils, I wrote the following things down for other newbies to learn why my 10-month old blog, randomthoughts! and 3-month old blog, tumandok received an award from the Philippine Blog Awards, Inc. recently.

Thus, I came up with the following 5 tips on how to write a quality and readable blog:

1. Write while your ideas are pouring out. Don't wait for an appropriate moment or by inspiration to write them down.

An announcement from the Negros Bloggers who have been organized 2 years ago said that they will take the job of  hosting this year's Visayas Blog Awards (VBA) rites at the "Ruins" - a historical marker of Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

    1. Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
    2. Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.
    3. Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
    4. Ignore the trolls.
    5. Take the conversation offline, and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
    6. If you know someone who is behaving badly, tell them so.
    7. Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in person.

Tim O'Reilly proposes this code for bloggers to enforce civility on their blogs by being civil themselves and moderating comments on their blog. The code was proposed due to threats made to blogger Kathy Sierra. The idea of the code was first reported by BBC News, who quoted O'Reilly saying, "I do think we need some code of conduct around what is acceptable behaviour, I would hope that it doesn't come through any kind of regulation it would come through self-regulation."
