Filipina Cop Chief Defends Station Under Siege

Police Inspector Charity Galvez of Trento Police Station, Agusan del Sur bravely fought back against a group of 250 communist rebels who attacked their Police Station, 5 a.m., Saturday, the news said.

With a barely 30 men the station had and with her courage and presence of mind, Cop Chief Galvez were able to drive the rebels away after an hour of real gun-fighting.

Her undaunted staunch in real danger situation, in spite that they were outnumbered by the NPAs, strengthened the fighting spirit of her men.

"The police station must be defended at all cost. The communist rebels must not be given opportunity to enter the police station," she said in a phone interview by a national news agency.
