Every Tree Planted, Life Is Saved

Every tree planted, grown and survived provides a great chance for every mankind to survive and even to live a bit longer.

This principle has prompted the Alternative Learning System (ALS) mobile teacher, Ms. Corazon Aloro to organize and lead the ALS participants who were composed of the learners with their respective instructional managers IMs). She facilitated the provision of the streamer and the rest of the planting materials needed for the tree planting activity by coordinating with the local Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Every participant has to bring his or her own food provisions and reserved drinking water for a long walk going uphill to the area for tree planting. It weather at that time was very cooperative. It was a sunny day, though it rained heavily last night.

DENR - National Greening Program

More than 100 persons representing the different organizations and sectors of the community actively joined the one-day tree planting activity facilitated by the local Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of La Carlota City.

The participating representatives assembled at the division of La Carlota City compound early in the morning. By 8 in the morning, the group was transported by 4 service vehicles provided by the sponsoring government agency to Barangay Ara-al, one of the 14 barangay of La Carlota City.

Before the group took off for the activity, Noel Macado, deputy Protected Area superintendent, in behalf of PA superintendent Mr. Cecil L. Cañada conducted a minute of briefing. While Ms. Cynthia Pabillaran, extension officer and Gilbert Salimbot, MKPP laborer facilitated the registration of the participants. Tatay Sammy Cahilig led the members of Kanlaon Green Brigade, serving as the guides.

Mountain Trek Begins

Starting from crossing Maya, they proceeded to the upper portion of Sitio Nailab, Brgy. Ara-al with several natives who serve as their guides. They took 2-hour-and-a-half walk to reach the top of the protected area after passing through an improvised bamboo bridge, crossing an ankle-deep creek, climbing a circuitous path uphill.

A seedlings of endemic trees like narra, molave, lauan, among others were already prepared with a corresponding dug holes for planting. With less than an hour, the group of ALS implementors with their learners, the boy scouts and girl scouts with their coordinators, DENR representatives, and Kanlaon Green Brigade (KGB) were done with their tree planting.

While heading home, they took a short cut for they only took 30-minute trek down the hill to reach the high way in between the Guintubdan pavillon and Brgy, Ara-al proper.

ALS Views on Tree Planting

My daughter, Geeree D. Camporazo, ALS instructional manager with her three learners felt satisfied of their participation. Taking part in the life-and-nature saving activities of DENR, they knew how important is their role in this laudable project which is very much worthwhile in saving the environment, protecting the watershed. For them, tree planting is saving the nature, In return, saving mankind is attained.

I appreciate ALS involvement in this tree planting to advocate the national greening program of DENR which is likened to planting a life for the present generation and the future as well.
