As the LaSalTech, La Carlota Branch observes its joined 20th founding day and teachers' day, Gilbor D. Camporazo, Jr., our youngest son, the 2nd year student and the president of supreme council government of the said technical school opens up the momentous events by giving his inspiring talk through an analogy of a wise boy.
The entirety of Gilbor D. Camporazo, Jr.'s talk:
Greetings, my fellow students, LST faculty and staff, ladies and gentlemen!
In behalf of the Supreme Council Government of LasalTech, La Carlota City and all the students, I am Gilbor D. Camporazo Jr., welcome you to the 20th Year of LasalTech Foundation Day, and also in the celebration of teachers’ day.
As the first speaker of this memorable occasion in the history of our school, I would like to share a story of a boy who is so clever and intelligent. This boy is fond of playing people’s mind through asking clever questions and giving them thought-provoking puzzles to solve. He spends a lot of his time traveling around the world just to meet people who will dare to challenge him. Throughout his days of traveling, no one seems to beat him in answering his tricky questions correctly and even deciphers his puzzles.
One day, while he was tired of traveling, he met a wise man on his way back home. This time, he came up with a more clever idea and challenged this man. The challenge was a simple guessing game, answerable by yes or no. The boy hid a chick in his hands. His idea
is to do a trick that the man will not get the right answer. In case the man will answer that the chick is alive, he is going to press his hands so that the chick will be choked to death. But if the man will answer that the chick is dead, he will not press his hands. What a boy's clever idea!
Now he asked the man, “I have a chick hid in my hand. Is the chick alive or not?” The man paused for awhile and even took him longer thinking for his answer. Getting impatient for waiting the long response of the man, the boy exclaimed, “What it takes you too long? Just answer yes or no! Is the chick alive or not?
Finally, the smart man answered, "The answer is neither yes nor no for the answer lies in your hands! The result will differ upon your action on what you will do in the situation. The life of that chick is not answerable by yes or no, but on the decision you will choose."
"You're wise but I'm wiser than you," the smart man blurted.
In this story, we may compare our life as an individual, as a student of Lasaltech on how do we prepare ourselves for the future. As we study here, our future is in our hands, whether it could be a bright one or otherwise. We chart our own future. Our teachers are just an instrument in imparting valuable knowledge for us to learn for our future.
The analogy of boy on how he wanted to trick the man in the story is likened to us who are exploring and facing challenges that only us can answer.
It is therefore of our gratefulness to acknowledge and give tribute to our teacher for their untiring efforts of molding us to be a better, useful and gainful and even highly equipped students of expertise of a well-trained technicians and programmers as we commemorate our foundation day. We are all indebted to them on what we have today and in the near future. We cannot find those answers without their help, without their assistance and without their understanding and consideration. We must always extend our gratitude to them and respect them wherever we are. Of course, I am not discounting the efforts of our parents, and even the guidance of our Divine Providence.
Happy Foundation Day and Teachers Day as well! Thank you and good afternoon!

I love the message! Our future indeed lies in our own hands! You must be one proud dad! Congratulations!
ReplyDeletei think the article itself is clever. Using little things metaphorically in life has the best lessons we could ever learn
ReplyDeleteHe does writes and delivers interesting and thought provoking stories and speeches. It's also nice to note that as students while we can be wise, learning is in the hands of the teacher but the effort will always be on our end.
ReplyDeleteI do agree! that one's future lies on his hands. But still the people that surround or influence that person will create a big impact. Just like my previous professor, who thought us to achieve the best, so in case we fail, it's still good :)
ReplyDeletesuch inspiring thoughts embedded in this post. Yes, we are the master of our fate. We make our future not others. It is in our hand weather we chose to be successful or a failure.
ReplyDeleteWow, what an accomplishment! You must be a proud dad.
ReplyDeleteYou must be very proud of your son, Sir Gil! So young yet so wise!
ReplyDeleteNice speech. Brief but packed with a good message behind it. I'm sure you're very proud!
ReplyDeleteVery brief but the message was clearly relayed. A tap in you back for having a great son, Sir Gil
ReplyDeleteYes Ness. The context of the message is very clear for his classmates to understand.
DeleteBrilliant analogy and similitude of the smart man. Indeed he is! On the other hand, "the future lies in our hands" is truly a big task to accomplish, plus it is a continuous process. It goes through a cycle of its own.
ReplyDeleteThe message of your son's speech is something to be seriously considered by everyone since it is true that we hold the answers to questions about our future.
ReplyDeletethe future definitely lies in our own hands. we create it ourselves.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for having such a smart son.
ReplyDeleteHappy Foundation Day and I hope that he will continue to be passionate in what he does. You have a blessing right there.
ReplyDeleteThat analogy reminds me during me and my friends attended a business venture meeting. The "chick" symbolizes our future. It's up to us to kill or live our dreams. Happy Foundation Day! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful speech, very moving, INDEED,the future lies in our hand. We are the one making it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your Jr.
Thanks Tess <3
DeleteWow! You're such a proud dad. Happy Foundation Day :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, congrats to your son for delivering such a wonderful speech. I loved his analogy. It's always refreshing to be reminded that our future does lie on our hands.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mai Flores for praising my son's speech. He never fails to come to me for an advice always. I know he's so reserved, but full of prolific ideas!
DeleteI was inspired by number of mentors who appreciates the greatness in me despite my imperfections, reading this article had made me realize to pursue my dream of becoming a college professor after finishing my degree. I really believe that teacher's influence lasts a lifetime.. mind checkin out this vid sir? heartwarming advertisement about teachers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIun5xGK86g
ReplyDeleteLike father like son, I guess. He has the inclination of a great and effective speaker even though I just read the speech but the way you presented it, I seem to hear his voice delivering the talk. Great job from your son and greater job for you as his supportive father.
ReplyDeleteThe future, indeed, lies in the palm of our hands.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need to rely on fate to do something, we are given freewill to do anything we want to, however, we also need to weigh the consequences and the benefits of doing such.
