"Don't prevent those little children in coming over me for they're like the kingdom of heaven," opened up the school principal's message.
He was relating how Jesus treated those little children while he was giving sermon on the mount. And this is how important these kids today in this one-day medical-dental mission jointly sponsored by the Class 1979 of La Carlota City High School and Tau Gamma Phi, Inc.
This blogger, Gil Camporazo, school principal of Cubay Elementary School openhandedly welcomed the members of Class 1979 of LCCHS, and Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity to his school.
Alternative Learning Scheme (ALS) supervisor Avelino N. Santillan, Division PTA coordinator relayed the schools division superintendent, Juliet A. Jeruta's well-wishes to the success of the PTA's program.
Mary Ann B. de Leon, Class '79 chairman said this mission is one of the programs that the (La Carlota) Parent-teacher association (PTA) federation is giving emphasis to help out most of the schools if not all in terms of medical and dental services.
She added that this noble endeavor had been operationalized by LCCHS Class '79 for 4 consecutive years in different schools and was participated in by the Tau Gamma Phi as their expression of their social responsibility.
This is well-supported by the local government, LGUs, NGOs, civil societies, people organizations. And this is de Leon's belief that the delivery of these social services are realized because of their concerted efforts of all those organizations or agencies. She mentioned La Carlota City Mayor Juliet Marie B. Ferrer who provided the city bus in transporting the doctors, physicians, and dentists to the school, and also expressed thanks to Brgy. Captain Noel Vargas of Cubay.
And the Cubay Elementary School medical-dental mission was the 5th mission conducted by the Class 1979, Inc. in partnership with Tau Gamma Phi, Inc, she said.
The Physicians started diagnosing the children and gave them appropriate medicines and food supplements like a bottle of vitamins.
The Dentists extracted teeth of 48 pupils whom some of them fainted for it was their first time to see a dentist so far.
The Tau Gamma Phi conducted parlor games to some waiting pupils for their turn and distributed school supplies. Those who were done were fed with nutritious noodles and bread.
Barangay Cubay Captain Noel Vargas with the assistance of Kagawad Kiko Cabuguason provided the lunch for more than 50 volunteers including the doctors, dentists and their aides.
The school PTA headed by Eric Bajala gave their share too by providing them snacks. While the teachers of the school did the dirty jobs like cooking with some volunteer male and female parents assisting and facilitating the visitors of their needs.
The parents and the pupils, and the whole teaching staff of the school were very thankful for this momentous and first-time medical mission ever conducted in the school.
The medical team was composed of Dr. Erwina Jalandoni, La Carlota City Health Officer; Dr. Florencio Juplo, La Carlota City College Physician. And the dental team was composed of Dr. Floscarmille Dalipe-Aries, Dr. Leofric de Paula, Jr., Dr. Mary Ann Palma-Palomado, all of the city health office, and Dr. Ivan Corgos of the DepEd.
The Class 1979 was headed by their president, Arnaldo "Lidoy" Miravalles. The other officers were Ma. Fe Sabay, vice president; Tesanie Panaligan, treasurer; Amy Fe Rojo, Public Information Officer; and their chairman of the board, Mary Ann B. De Leon.
Tau Gamma Phi, La Carlota chapter (Triskelion de La Carlota) was headed by GT Gerald Serafico. Its other officers were DGT Hijene Roy Miaga, MKS Baby Angel Pantalita, MKC Suzanette Grantus, MDGs Hernan de Leon, Andrew Masula, Cesar Ocong, John Lim, Jonas Miaga, Rami Joy Malacaman, Apple Cabuguason, and Kiko Cabuguason. And the Isabela chapter was represented by Mark Enviado and Russel.
The barangay health workers of Cubay also joined the mission. They're tasked to conduct cholesterol testing among the parents of the pupils.
"When you are in the service of your fellow beings, you're only in the service of your God," qualified Camporazo as another reason why this the medical and dental team came to his school. And he didn't have any second thought to approve the proposal which PTA federation president de Leon presented it to him their scheduled visit to the school.

Dental and medical missions are really good especially for those who cannot afford to go to a doctor.
ReplyDeleteYes C5 You're absolutely right. Our school children are so blessed for such humanitarian concern of those Class 1979 and Tau Gamma Phi fraternity. Those kids who had been diagnosed were given free medicines and food supplements or vitamins. Their parents were so thankful. The children were very happy and enjoyed this medical-dental mission.
