In our November 26 cluster meeting of all clerks and executive secretaries of all district here in Negros Occidental with Brother Ralphie Presa of MSR held at Galo Meetinghouse, Bacolod City, the following qualities propped up into my mind as a spiritual reflection of my experience and testimony of the basic qualities which I know as a minimum requirements in accepting my numerous callings from the Church.
And these are willingness, worthiness, and work.
1. Willingness
In doing the Lord's work and accepting Church assignment or calling, you don't need to have any college degree or doctorate for that matter as long as you have the desire to work , you're already qualified and called to serve. You must have an "eye single to the glory of God." (D&C 88:67) Actually no one is compelling you to do, it is your heart's desire to do it. And when you serve do all the best you can. Then the Lord will do the rest.
2. Worthiness
Then you must be faithful in keeping the Lord's commandments. You must remember that it is the Holy Spirit that converts the sinners to be baptized. You may not have the power of the priesthood if you're not worthy. And keeping yourself to be worthy is a lifetime until you attain exaltation. It is difficult but it is possible.
3. Work
And lastly you must bear in mind the Lord's work, that is, "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39) And this is accomplished in the three-fold mission of the Church: to proclaim the gospel, to perfect the saints, and to redeem the dead. In doing so, you must study the scriptures. Follow what is being expected from you. Learn from the writings, speeches of the prophets and also the living prophet as well as the general authorities of the Church and exemplify those things to your way of life for a personal and strong testimony of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, to qualify to serve the Lord in whatever Church calling or assignment be given you, you must at least have those three Ws. Those are the three qualities, I know, that are effective in serving and magnifying your Church calling. Practically it is in the service of your fellow beings that you are only in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17)
I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for almost 31 years now.

True, sometimes we get so caught up with ourselves and our lives that we forget what we are here for.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding us why and how we can act on it.

ReplyDeleteYes just like what they always say, If there's a will there's a way. worshipping Him wholeheartedly and the Lord will bless you :) Thanks for sharing this , Sir!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the same faith as yours, I hardly go to church and I don't know why
ReplyDelete@chrisair, the answer is within you. Nobody could decide that for you. Evaluate yourself why and why. You can be at the Lord's command as long as you've the desire. God bless!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to hear that @Christia that you've been in Church for quite sometime. I'm hoping that someday you'll be listening to the missionaries on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and your faith may be strengthened and be converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
