'Sorry na Lang' To Teachers with Un-updated GSIS Records

"Sorry na lang" to those who failed to update their GSIS records said House Assistant Majority Leader and Davao City Representative Karlo Nograles in a hearing in the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability recently.

The news said that the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) contributions of some 198,000 teachers and other Department of Education (DepED) employees are in danger.

This was known after a hearing in the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability was conducted to investigate the alleged massive irregularities in the GSIS as prompted by Alliance of Volunteer Educators (AVE) party-list Representative Eulogio Magsaysay.

The news said that the DepEd has failed to comply with the deadline set by the GSIS for them to reconcile and update the service records of their personnel particularly the teachers.

In the said hearing, House Assistant Majority Leader and Davao City Representative Karlo Nograles revealed that GSIS representatives declared that they will be forced to adopt the outdated service records of the 198,000 government employees after DepEd failed to meet their February 28 deadline.

Sad to note that the GSIS will treat the outdated records of the teachers as true even if it is to the detriment and disadvantages of the teachers.

Nograles said, "Sorry na lang daw sila kung malas nila na isa sila sa mga hindi na-update."

That's all "sorry na lang"! Well, this dismal scenario would light up the wick of protest for teachers especially those affected to go out the street and dramatize their dissatisfaction not only to GSIS but also to the DepED, their employer.

Whose to be blamed primarily? Where's the direction of an accusing finger? Who's responsible for this?
