Silay Massacre: 4 killed, 4 wounded

Imee Occeña, the slain SK
Chairman
While the village council of Capitan Ramon Village in Silay City was about to begin their special session early this morning, former barangay captain Noel Ayalin entered the hall and reportedly fired his gun, killing four and wounding four others, reported dyEZ Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod.

Killed on the spot were Imee Occeña, 16-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson, and three other village councilmen – Freddie Juno, 58; Pedrito Orocio, 52 and Luzviminda Cotamen, 45.

Four others were wounded – village chief Ramon Celebre, 48; council members Salvacion Corugda, 40; Nory Flores, 30; and the barangay treasurer, Lenny Lorca, 32.

Sources said the barangay council was set to discuss the failure of Ayalin to liquidate P1.2 million in village funds used during his term.

Noel Ayalin, the suspect

Ayalin served as village councilman from 1994 to 2007 and as barangay captain from 2007 to 2010. He ran for re-election but lost to Celebre.

“This could have irked him,” a City Hall employee close to Ayalin, who asked not to be named, told Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod.

Josefita Flores, the mother of Ayalin, called on her son to surrender as authorities launched a manhunt against him.

Police Supt. Armando Tobongbanua, who heads the Negros Occidental Public Safety Company, had already started a manhunt operation against the suspect.

  4. Right then and there people who could have given much to our country are slaughtered. It's sad that an event such as this happens almost every day in our country that people don't even bother anymore.

My prayers go to them and their families. I hope the killer is caught.

  13. This is really sad for the family of the innocent victim. The cold blood killer responsible for the killings and massacre should be put in prison and perhpas sentenced to death. It was a stupid and dumbest act to kill people as answers to the problem
