Here Comes Quiel!

Tropical storm Quiel is coming. Though it will not directly hit Luzon, according to the PAGASA latest bulletin. As a storm, it has always a tendency to change its direction beyond everyone's expectation. Thus, always be ready. Always be prepared for the eventualities.

Here's the latest weather update:

Tropical storm Quiel (international name Nalgae) will enter the Philippine area of responsibility tonight or early Thursday morning, PAGASA weather forecaster Buddy Javier informed.

Northern Luzon will start feeling the storm's effects either Saturday or Sunday, he added.

Javier said the storm, currently located 1,330 kilometers east of north Luzon, is packing maximum winds of 75 kilometers per hour and 90kph gusts.

He said it may may gather strength as it bears down on the Philippines. "Asahan natin na pupuwede pa po itong lumakas."

The US Navy and Air Force Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) issued a similar advisory on the tropical storm.

"[Quiel/Nalgae] is forecast to intensify due to favorable outflow and warm sea surface temperatures," the JTWC said in its latest advisory today.

Javier, meanwhile, said the tropical storm may not directly hit Luzon.

"Medyo may kalayuan sa Metro Manila [ang dadaaanan]. Maapektuhan extreme north Luzon. Gigilid lang siya, base sa track na pinapakita," he said.

Latest bulletin on storm Pedring, he left the Philippine area of responsibility around 1 p.m. today, PAGASA said.

As of 4p.m. today,  was spotted 520 kilometers west-northwest of Baguio City.

The typhoon, moving west-northwest at 19kph, is still packing maximum winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of
up to 160 kph.

PAGASA said "Pedring" will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over western Luzon.
