PH Teachers' Records Updated with GSIS

Fifty-one percent of the records of teachers in the Philippines were already updated with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) according to the recent statement of the Department of Education (DepEd).

The statement said that as of March 4, 2011, 102,250 of the 198,967 service records of the teachers were already updated and submitted to the different GSIS offices.

The reported unremitted amount premiums to GSIS from 1997 and 1998 were already settled, said the statement. Former Secretary Jesli Lapus initiated means to settle the said unpaid government shares and employee compensation insurance premium to GSIS.

Some P1.7 billion in arrears representing government shares and led DepEd to settle some P862 million in employees' compensation insurance premium adjustment were paid in just one year.

The department has assured that they will not rest until the benefits and entitlements of the teachers, including the compensations due to retiring teachers are made available for them.

Prompt payment or remittance of premiums and loan obligations is the agency's manifestation of support in dealing with their employees' problems.

  2. At least they've something to hope for and something to be assured of for their assurance and insurance that their efforts, their services will be well compensated when they retire later...
