Reorganization: 'Blessing in Keeping the Covenants'

The La Carlota First Branch Presidency of La Carlota District, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was reorganized today during the Branch Conference of the said branch presided by Bacolod Philippines Mission, President Sumagpao.

As a concluding speaker in the said conference, President Sumagpao counseled the new Branch Presidency so as with the members to keep the covenants they have made before the Lord when they became member of the Church.

He expressed that they should do something with their one-time love and care for there is blessing in keeping their covenants. In every covenant there is a blessing and the greatest blessing is eternal life.

National Reading Month

The Department of Education (DepEd) issued DepEd Memorandum No. 175, s. 2018, declaring November as the 2018 National Reading Month. This NRM aims "to promote love for reading, and to celebrate the diversity of learners and culture through reading."

This year's theme is Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan. NRM culmination is highlighted by the nationwide story reading on November 27 of every year by virtue of Republic Act No. 10556 as "Araw ng Pagbasa". All schools in elementary and secondary in the country would observe this a regular working holiday.

Teachers' Day: Farewell But Not Goodbye

Today the teachers are celebrating the World Teachers' Day to take time out from their rigorous teaching routine from Monday to Friday and to be humbly honored by their pupils and parents.

The Balabag Elementary School in the Division of La Carlota City has its own unique way of celebrating this momentous day. A short program was held to recognize the invaluable efforts of the 13 teachers and the school principal.

Giving of tokens in the form of flowers, handmade cards and a warm embrace and sweet kisses of the pupils to their respective class advisers made the event meaningful and fun.

Added are singing and dancing number from the talented grade five and grade six pupils. And a word of appreciation and a message of gratefulness ensued from the PTA Federation President and from the pupils' representative.

The atmosphere on the covered court of the school where the program was held became cool and refresh due to the morning rain.

RandomThoughts 5th Anniversary: Keeping with Time

Though my blog site is not too productive as compared to others which are SEO enhanced, but it had satisfied organic visitors for 5 years. I don't know how to interpret this views in my site which have reached to 761,145 as of this writing. Anyway, it is still going keeping with the time.

RandomThoughts is an inspired title of my first column in our local newspaper, Negros Dailly Bulletin, a vigilant community newspaper in Region VI, Western Visayas, Philippines sometime in 1991. But later it was suggested by the editor, Pert Toga  if I could change it. Then I changed it to Vibrations. Vibrations is still running in the said newspaper, but not in a regular basis anymore.

RandomThoughts has its ups and downs. Out of its first circulation in the Internet for a year, it received an award from the Philippine Blog Award as the Best Lifestyle Blog Award in 2011 in regional category.

PNoy SONA: 'Unite and Work Together' for Progress

This afternoon today, Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his 54-minute State of the Nation (SONA) in the 15th Congress at the House of Representatives, on "treading the straight and righteous path."

Here are the excerpts:

"There is confidence and there is hope; the government is now fulfilling its promises. And I cannot help but remember a woman I spoke with during one of my first house-to-house campaigns. She lamented: “It won’t matter who wins these elections. Nothing will change. I was poor when our leaders campaigned, I am poor now that they are in office, and I will still be poor when they step down.” This is a grievance echoed by many: “Our leaders didn’t care about us then, our leaders don’t care about us now, and our leaders will not care about us tomorrow.”

"We do not wish to increase tensions with anyone, but we must let the world know that we are ready to protect what is ours. We are also studying the possibility of elevating the case on the West Philippine Sea to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, to make certain that all involved nations approach the dispute with calm and forbearance.
