The grade 5 and 6 pupils of Cubay Elementary School, Division of La Carlota City have shown their strong interest to participate in running their Pupils' Government in their recent elections of new set of officers for the school year 2014 - 2015.

Those who voted for this annual synchronized elections of elementary candidates for their supreme pupils' government are grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 pupils of Cubay elementary school.

The school election committee and as well as the board of election canvassers is composed of Mr. Mario A. Malacaman, HEKASI teacher and his two members, Ms. Ofelia Ayungon and Ms. Melanie Reyes.

The election proceedings lasted for more than an hour including the canvassing of votes.

After the appreciation of votes received by every candidate, the proclamation of the winning candidates ensued. The school principal did the honor in proclaiming the newly-elected set of officers for the current school year.

Voters' Registration for SK and Barangay Elections

SK and Barangay Elections are set on October 28, 2013. The Commission on Election has announced that voters' registration nationwide has started July 22, 2013 until July 31, 2013. COMELEC offices nationwide are open Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the registrants.

The Comelec as per resolution pointed out that police clearance is not valid as proof of identity for those registrants who wish to be registered or transferred voting residence or precinct.

Priority for this on-going registration are the youths, 18 years old who are 18 years old on or before the October 28, 2013 barangay Elections and first-time voters to be able to register as voters and to participate in the said elections

How La Carlota People Expressed Themselves

In a just concluded midyear election of national and local positions in the government, the people of La Carlota or the Mangkasanon have manifested whom they really loved as far as public service is concerned.

Majority of the registered voters of La Carlota and Valladolid gave their full confidence to reelectionist congressman, Jeffrey P. Ferrer of  United Negros Alliance (UNEGA) for his good governance under the 4th district of, Negros Occidental. In Bago, Ferrer got a comfortable vote of 52%. In the municipalities of Pontevedra and San Enrique, he got 59.86% and 62.32% votes respectively. While in Pulupandan, he got only19.69% votes against his rival.

Anyway, the over-all confidence of the people of 4th district in Negros Occidental has reached to 78.89% in the results of Commission on Elections website, against his major political rival, Atty. Ike Barredo (Independent) who got only 20.89% votes.
