Bryan: Artist in the Making

Our 11-year old grandson, Bryan P. Camporazo is gradually showing off his latent talent on drawing human figures. He has proven how artistic he is in some of his drawing pieces which are shown here.

Toto Bryan as we fondly call him is a reserved type of a boy. He is too serious in doing things of his interest. He is quick to think. He has the ability to learn things by himself through observation. He likes math, arts and music.

His drawing skill is acquired. He has gained this talent upon seeing his uncle, Toto Jun (Gilbor D. Camporazo, Jr.), our youngest son doing some sketches of cartoon characters like Naruto, Dragon Ball Z characters like Sun Goku, Bulma, Piccolo, Vegeta, among others. He has also drawn several cartoon character in a comics form.

Rizal's Bust: My First Sculpture Art

I've developed my desire in arts particularly in sketching, drawing and painting as I often saw one of our eldest brothers, Manong Jaime, who was doing his pieces in painting Jesus Christ's portrait, drawing person's profile and landscaping in his spare time by just using ordinary enamel paint.

And I also developed a desire to mold statues of heroes as I happened to see a good sculptor repairing a deformed statue of Andres Bonifacio in La Carlota City plaza before. I was amazed on how he did his work.

I thought for myself, "Could I do it too? How I wish I could sculpt a very good subject or art someday."

Well in the mean time, I took over some unfinished painting of Manong Jaime by doing some coloring and doing some finishing touches to said painting with no direction. I just loved doing it.

Unexpectedly he went home early. I was caught unaware of what I was doing. Worried as I was for I was thinking that he will scold me by intruding his work without his permission. I was wrong. Instead he appreciated me for my initiative and told me that someday if I am really serious about it I could be a good painter.

He gave me some cans of paints of primary colors: red, blue and yellow and gave me tips on how to mix it to come up with different color.

Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jaro. It is located in district of Jaro in Iloilo City, in the province of Iloilo, on the island of Panay, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is known as the shrine of Our Lady of Candles and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, as well as the parish of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.

There are two distinctive features of the Romanesque revival architecture Cathedral. First, it is a site of devotion to the Virgin Mary due to a reportedly miraculous statue which is located above the main door of the structure. The statue was canonically crowned by Pope John Paul II during his visit to the parish in 1982. The image is the only religious icon in the country to have been personally crowned by a Pope. The second distinctive feature is its bell tower, which is located across a busy street on the Jaro Plaza. Such construction arrangement is rare in the Philippines. Usually the Churches and their belfries are built adjacent to each other, or at least they are collocated on the same plot of land. This is a remnant of an older building that collapsed during an earthquake.

"Polytheism" or "Poleteismo" in Filipino is an artwork of 37-year-old visual and performance artist, Mideo Cruz. It is about the worship of relics and how idolatry evolves through history and modern culture, which is recently the subject of critics furor for being "sacrilegious and blasphemous".

This is not new, the Cultural Center of the Philippines said. This had been featured in exhibits in Ateneo de Manila, UP Vargas Museum and Kulay Diwa since 2002.
