Four Challenges to ALS Learners

Another Alternative Learning System (ALS) class again was launched recently in Marcelo Aguirre Sr. Village or MASVILLE, Btgy. Cubay, La Carlota City.  Sir Chester John Baran, district ALS coordinator, was assigned to teach the learners.

He invited in his launching program, that is to challenge the learners. Since Masville belongs to Brgy. Cubay, ALS monitoring is one of my supervisory activities. I didn't want to miss the special occasion. However, I had an important matters to look into and it overlapped my activity that day, therefore, I couldn't make it. So in my behalf, I delegated one of my teachers, Mrs. Melanie C. Reyes to read my message which has posed four challenging questions to the prospective learners on how firm and strong they are in taking the ALS modular teaching to finish their interrupted formal schooling for a particular and practical reason.

Are You Frustrated for Unfinished Schooling?

USUALLY THE YOUTHS COULDN'T COMPLETE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL STUDIES due to considerable factors like poverty, transfer of residence, truancy, among others.But studies show even adults are also listed as one of those who haven't finished their secondary education.

Our government has never left them unattended, especially the Department of Education. They have a special education for them. This is the Alternative Learning System or ALS. Those who are enrolled in this educational scheme are tasked to take their lessons in a module prepared for them. So far as to the latest results of those who took the A&E (Acceleration and Equivalency) Test. who were enrolled in ALS, many had passed.

Recently, another class was launched in Barangay I (poblacion),city of La Carlota and our youngest daughter, Geeree D. Camporazo was the assigned teacher as Instructional Manager (IM). The simple program in the afternoon was attended by guests from our division office in the person of Ruth V. Villanueva, administrative officer ; Sonia B. Oplas, school principal in charged of the barangay; Armi T. Velasco, barangay kagawad incharge for education, and myself.

The 54 learners of Nailab, the farthest sitio in Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City have the reason to be happy for they have now their own makeshift classroom in their informal education under the scheme of Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education, Division of La Carlota City.

Other Basic Education

A simple ceremony dubbed as "Alternative Learning System, the Other Side of Basic Education" formally opened up this opportunity for the said learners.

Geeree's ALS Achievers

Our youngest daughter, Geeree D. Camporazo, Instructional Manager (IM) of Alternative Learning System (ALS), Division of La Carlota was very proud of having 6 passers of her learners in the Secondary Level of Accreditation and Equivalency Test (A&E) conducted on November 13, 2011. The results just came out recently.

These successful examinees were Arra Poblete Medina with a score of 96, Jean Villarin Saulda, 99; Bryan Rey Poblete Quimzon, 98, and Alice Espinosa Tubal, 99 and the other two were AldrilynP. Bantiles, Edmark Herradura.

La Carlota ALS Supervisor Avelino N. Santillan informed that 98% of A&E test takers came from La Carlota City. These passers were comprising the 13 of elementary and 54 of secondary levels. These 67 passers will have their graduation ceremonies at the covered court of La Carlota South 1 Elem. School on May 18, 2012.
