Institute of Religion: Anchor to Gospel of Jesus Christ

In the recent Seminary and Institute of Religion devotional, Brother Sonny Deyro, Bacolod South Seminary and Institute coordinator of The  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stressed in his message to the students, teachers, parents and Church leaders the importance of scriptures and the intelligence gained from such study.

He said that the records of attendance in Seminary and Institute are recorded as a part of everyone's Book of Life. The "transcript" of every student is "kept" forever. Thus, he urged that the classes should be well attended for the knowledge they learned is for their advantage.

He illustrated this by citing Doctrine and Covenants 130:18 - 19:

"Whatever principle of a intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection. And if a person gains more a knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the c advantage in the world to come."

He added that any blessing from God is obtained by being diligent. And for the diligence, obedience is manifested and blessings follow.

The Doctrine and Covenants 130:20-21 so states that:

"There is a a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated— And when we obtain any a blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."

Earlier Sister Cristie B. Deyro relayed in her message on how she managed to let her children got interested in Seminary and Institute classes. She strongly believed that the said classes would have a better effect on protecting the family from the worldly things. She never wasted her time. She led children by the hand.

Anchor to the gospel of Jesus Christ

Sister Sherry Anne de la Cruz-Palis, a member of The Church posted 4 years ago in her Facebook page on how the Institute of Religion has influenced her especially her career in life.

Followed is her complete account of such experience:

Students of Institute - Book of Mormon Course
As I look at this reunion picture taken 2 weeks ago, memories of our Wednesday Book of Mormon classes every week 3 years ago in this cultural hall flood my mind. Those were great spiritual Wednesdays.

Some of us now soared in careers, served missions, married in the temple, had children, became an instrument to another person's conversion ... while our beloved instructor and his wife still look young as ever.

Now, there is another thing that I proved to be sure: Institute helps anchor us to the gospel of Jesus Christ. How imperative it is that each young adult make institute a priority! Many of the blessings in my life right now came because I chose to make the Institute a priority years ago. The closest and truest friends that I have now - I found them in the Institute; my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and the church was established in the Institute; I found my eternal companion in the Institute.

A young adult must enroll in the Institute if he wants to receive the blessings that the Lord is willing to give him. May we all encourage all youth and young adults we come across with to make institute a priority in their lives.
