DepEd Teachers To Use Official ECR

DepEd issues memorandum no. 60, s. 2015 requiring all public school teachers both in elementary and secondary to use the official electronic class records (ECR) starting this school year 2015-2016.

ECR is the output of the collaborative efforts of some selected DepEd teachers and personnel who offered their time and service for free in a three separate consultation meeting conducted in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao led by Mr. Jonathan Diche sometime in May 2015.

ECR is in compliance with D.O. No. 8, s. 2015 on classroom assessment for the K to 13 Basic Education Program. It is given free of charge to all public school teachers in elementary and in high school.

ECR for Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4 in elementary and Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10 in secondary are available in the website of the DepEd for download.

ECR Orientation

Balabag Elementary School, La Carlota City school principal Gil Camporazo conducted an hour orientation on the electronic class records to his teachers in grade 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Teachers are made aware on how to use the official ECR through a projector presentation of user manual, the basic steps on encoding the learners' name.

He presented a hands-on encoding of learners' name, school data, entering the numbers of test items, raw scores in a particular class and subject area.

He showed the summary of learner's grades per subject, per quarter.

The teachers so far hadn't found any problem. Instead they found it friendly user and easy to use. The only problem they cited was the command on how to hide the excess rows for it wasn't enabled in the issued ECR.

How to Use ECR

The following are basic steps in which those teachers are made to familiar with:

Every ECR has its own user manual which is easy for a novice computer user to follow. There is also a manual for basic commands in MS Excel.

For Grades 1, 2, and 3 class, the class adviser gets a list of his learners from LIS online (SF1) and encodes their learner's name to a respective grading period via INPUT DATA and they automatically appear to every subject area sheet.

For Grades 4 (5 and 6 are not included yet for they're still under RBEC), the respective subject teachers get copy (SF1) of downloaded LIS enrollees from their respective class advisers and enter them to their respective subject via INPUT DATA sheet.

All grade levels have their own summary of quarterly grades.

To HIDE EXCESS ROWS

Highlight the excess row or rows. At the task bar above, look for FORMAT then click.
Go to PROTECTION then click UNPROTECT. Go back to highlighted row or rows. Right click it.
Then click HIDE.

Needed Help

Teachers are encouraged to join the group of DepEd K to 12 E-Class Record Help Desk for their queries and concerns for proper implementation of the said ECR.
