In the division of La Carlota City, the Cubay Elementary School Teachers have spent their time while their pupils are taking their semester break for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in-service training in their school.
This could be a part of their curriculum enhancement wherein they may have the skill on how to use ICT in teaching and learning for their pupils as what has been indicated in their National Competency-Based Teacher Standards-Training Needs Assessment (NCBTS-TSNA) prepared by their school head for the school plan for professional development (SPPD).
Thirteen teachers of CES inclusive of kindergarten, primary and intermediate teachers took their precious time listening to the lecture and doing the hands-on activity as introduced by their trainor, Mr. Gilbor D. Camporazo, Junior a programmer instructor of Technological Foundation Institute (TFI) of Bago City.
Slide Presentation for Teaching
Since there's no available slide projector, Mr. Camporazo just used his laptop and presented his lecture through a 32-inch LCD TV monitor. He started giving them instructions on how to create basic slide presentation in teaching and enhancing their lessons to their pupils by using the MS PowerPoint.
The teachers were familiarized on the environment of MS PP and on how to create a slide, add a content or write a text, insert a picture or shapes, choose a pre-made theme, format it, improve it by using a transition and animation, and run or view it as a slide show.
In the process of doing their hands-on activity, some of them were creative enough by a coming up of a good and well-made slide show presentation.
Principal's Challenge
The school principal has challenged every teacher to come up a sample lesson presentation of the subject/skill he/she wants to teach through slide presentation, not only as his/her output for the session, but as a lesson enhancement for his/her particular subject-matter teaching.
He suggested to make it simple by limiting only to six slides which may be labeled as the title presentation, topic background presentation, activity, enrichment activity, fixation of skills and evaluation.
In so doing, therefore, these teachers could fully utilize ICT in enhancing their teaching and learning tasks to their respective pupil-learners.
More training is to be tackled by these teachers on the remaining two-day session. These topics may include diversity of learners and community linkages.

It's nice that part of the challenge is to keep the presentation short and concise.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to know that promoting these kinds of teachings is reaching even more and more cities in the Philippines. Hopefully more children will absorb and excel on this. GJ
ReplyDeleteThere should be more seminars like this for our beloved teachers to introduce a more time-saving, up-to-date and efficient teaching solutions to students.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that even without the projector, education did not stop. They must be given projects to exercise what they have learned.
ReplyDeleteThis is good training for teachers to fully utilize their skills and knowledge. Most students would appreciate this method.
