All teachers in the Division of La Carlota, Department of Education (DepEd) invaded the night with their shimmering, glittering, splendid Christmas Talent Presentation.

The acting schools division superintendent, Dr. Portia M. Mallorca welcomed all the teachers and the invited guests in this once-in-a-lifetime show in the annal of Division of La Carlota.
"In everything there is a season and in everything we do there is a reason," opened up Mallorca's message, "Tonight, you are all here to show to the world that teachers are not only beautiful in their uniform, but they are more beautiful wearing these shimmering, glittering dresses for tonight's show."
She expressed happiness in the participation of the teachers. "We're indeed very, very happy, not only of your shimmering and glittering costumes you have, but from within," she said.
The night was highlighted by search of Miss and Mister DepEd Night through a question-and-answer using the mother tongue language like the Ilonggo dialect, and also the presentation of talents.

One lady contestant asked, "Sir, lapis ka ba?" (Sir, are you a pencil?" Sir Santillan replied, "Nga-a? (why?)" "Gusto ko gamiton sa pagsulat sa akon tagipuso-on." (I'm going to use you to write in my heart.)
For the gentleman contestants, they have a very unique kind of questions raised.
One male teacher asked, "Ma'm, kuryente ka ba?" (Ma'm, are you an electricity?" "Kay kun makita ko ikaw, nagakurogkurog ako. Gusto ko magdikit sa imo." (When I see you, I am electrified. I want to stick with it.)
Added to the evening's gathering was a special dance for the selected age group and with their contemporary popular dance steps and music.
This author was able to dance to the Cha-Cha music in their 60s and above age bracket. He took his youngest daughter, a teacher (Instructional Manager) in Alternative Learning System (ALS) as his dance partner.
Every teacher present was excited to receive his door prize for every draw lot in every 30 minutes gap of activity. Before the night's presentation and party, SDS Mallorca gave away gifts to every school heads as a token for their cooperation for the success of the night's activity.
A teacher of Ayungon Elementary School, Ms. Miraflor was the Ms. DepEd Night and Mr. Dave Labtic, a classroom teacher in Sugar Central Elementary School was Mister DepEd Night.
You sure had a wonderful Christmas Talent Presentation with an interesting twist in the question and answer portion.

DeleteI remember in college, there's also a presentation where we had our teachers present their own talents. This is also a good showcase for the student.
ReplyDeleteIt's really more fun in the Philippines! Here in the US, we do have Christmas parties in the schools.. but it's just not the same as what we have in the Philippines!
ReplyDeletePick-up lines are now going viral over the internet and some people often use it on real occasions just for fun. Yes I agree with you Gemma, It's always more fun in the Philippines.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the stars of the night are the teachers of La Carlota. I saw the pictures and the stage and I wouldn't guess that it was a teacher's event. It's good to see the teachers unwinding and having fun by the end of the year.

Wow. Thanks for sharing parts of your program, especially the pick-up lines. I remembered that we also had pick-up lines imitating Boy Pickup of Bubble Gang in our corporate Christmas party and somehow it didn't fail to also make the audiences laugh. I cannot understand the dialect of the contestants in your post but compared to the English translation, they sound more fun!

ReplyDeleteI was there on that event and had fun with my friends who where enrolled at ALS in La Carlota. I was invited by them. I had so many laughs when the contestants throw their "pick-up" lines. The audience go crazy :)
I like the electrified pick-up line. Catchy and funny! It's really wonderful to party with people who profess the same work just like this event. I hope more parties (like this) will happen in your division Sir, Gil. I'm sure everyone went back home with a smile.

ReplyDeleteWow great presentation by teachers. The pictures show that production value is high and that is an achievement. But most importantly, i believe they are enjoying the presentation and this is what matters the most.

What a nice and fun event. For sure, the stress of being a teacher or educator was released a bit with this special gathering.

ReplyDeleteThat's a great way to celebrate Christmas :) Our company also had an almost-similar theme, to celebrate the numerous awards we bagged this year :) Our theme was glittering Gold!
