Australian Mathematics Competition |
Wu was a consistent top achiever in international math competition. Since 2009, when he was in Grade III, he was already used to participate in international math contests. In the 14h Po Leung Kuk Primary Math World Contest in Hong Kong last July 2011, he was the only gold medal awardee.
He was once tagged as mathematics athlete or "mathlete" for being a math wizard or witty pupil in the field of mathematics.
Wu is not only a math enthusiast but also a "piano prodigy" according to his mother, Elaine Wu.
Wu said in a news that the questions were difficult. But he was curious and interested to answer them all perfectly.
By the way, aside from Wu, Zhi Yi Bernard Teo of Singapore got also perfect scores in the said competition.
Both of them received the Peter O’Halloran Certificate, the highest award, for the AMC contest.
Nature of the Math Quiz
This math competition is done in a contest paper which consists of 30 multiple choice questions, which are ordered in increasing difficulty. The student-contestants are given 75 minutes to solve the problems, which cover arithmetic, algebra, geometry and problem solving.
This recent math competition was conducted August 2, 2012.
