"Your Gift of Learning, Our Tool for Nation Building" is this year 2012 graduation theme in which the prepared message of Department of Education Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC is issued to both elementary and secondary schools in the Philippines for publication in school's yearbook, souvenir program and also to be read by the school principal during graduation day.
Part of it reads as follows:
"This year's theme... extends an appropriate invitation to each of us. The gift of learning is a universal one offered to every stakeholder in the education sector."
To the graduates:
"Your newly harnessed values, knowledge and skills shall comprise the building blocks of our society. The choices you make, the relationships you cultivate, the attitudes you bring to school and work, these erect the pillars and walls of our rising nation. How beautiful and strong you desire this building to be depends a lot on you."
To the internal and external stakeholders:
"Your own gifts to support and reform education are making it possible for us to hope for a better future. Yet, let us also remember that our actions and examples, more than our words, leave firmer imprints in the minds of the young. The integrity we bring into our homes and classrooms become the foundation of our own future. The justice, peace and prosperity we yearn for strongly depend on the truth and faithfulness we invest today.
"We are all architects, engineers and builders working together in this colossal project we call our country, the Philippines... our personal dreams for ourselves come the larger dream of a united, fulfilled and prosperous Filipino people, a dream that not only benefits a few, but one that benefits all..."
In like manner, La Carlota Schools Division Superintendent Juliet A. Jeruta has come up with her graduation message that runs in part:
"Today's graduation theme... invites each one of you to share your knowledge, skills and right attitude for nation building. What you desire to achieve from your gift of learning will contribute good benefits to you, your family, and our country. Continue reaching your desires and achieve them. Have your parents, teachers, and friends serve as your guide and inspiration to your journey of hope for a better future. Maximize your capabilities and potentials. Be positive and have a purpose in life. These are your paths to achieve success."
The school principal may read these messages during their graduation rites.
