Arman Toga Ready To Wield His Pen of Conscience

As an active journalist and media man, Arman Toga is ready to wield his pen of social conscience to let the people know that "press freedom lives on strong in Negros" as what the National Press Club president Jerry S. Yap described it in his statement published in Berteni "Toto" Causing's blog in extending congratulations to him as the new Negros Press Club for 2012-2013.

Negros Daily Bulletin editor, Arman Toga, 48, is a man to watch as the new NPC president especially in this trying and decisive days and years of the press in Negros and in the country as a whole.

As the Negros Press Club MassCom scholar at USLS Bacolod, he started as news reporter in some Bacolod and Iloilo-based community newspapers like the Visayan Daily Star, Negros Daily Bulletin, Sun-Star Bacolod, Western Visayas Times and Yuhum Publications circulating in Bacolod, Iloilo cities and some other areas in Western Visayas,

He is the third of NPC's second generation journalists whose fathers have also been elected earlier as club president during their time, spanning over seven decades since the club's founding way back 1936.

As per club's history, the following are first father-and-son NPC members who eventually became club presidents:

1. Late Bacolod City Mayor Vicente T. Remitio, publisher of the post-war publication, The Monitor, and lawyer-son, Atty. Rinaldo "Rex" Remitio.

2. Journalist-historian Modesto P. Saonoy, and son, Aufred Saonoy, a magazine and newspaper publisher.

3. Two-time NPC President Pert Toag, and Arman Toga.

NDB editor, Arman, the outgoing club director and treasurer who was also former vice president of the club, got an overwhelming victory over his opponent in January 21, 2012 general and annual election of officers for 2012-2013 of the club at NPC Media Center in Bacolod City.

Along with his new set of officers, Arman Toga's programs may focus on:

1. Strengthening fellowship and media vigilance at all times.
2. Upholding the good deeds of his father.
3. Keeping up for the best interest not only of his family, but of his media colleagues.
4. A year of service to the club and its members.
