Missing Whitney Houston - The Voice

"I Will Always Love You" and "One Moment in Time" are my favorite songs which were popularized by Whitney Houston's high-pitched voice.

Whitney Houston as "one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time" was reported dead in Beverly Hill hotel at around 3p.m. Saturday.

She was staying at the said hotel to attend a pre-Grammy party. Clive Davis, the founder of Arista Records, who had been Whitney Houston's pop mentor, hosted the party.

As one of Whitney Houston fans, I was deeply touched of her untimely death at the age of 48. Though, I could still hear her powerful voice from any prerecorded media, but yet I would be missing The Voice (nickname of Whitney).

At any rate, the cause of her death as reported by the news was uncertain.

Though she was noted to be a cocaine drug user and a victim of an abusive marriage, she was able to pursue her singing engagement.

It was David who signed a contract with her after hearing her perform in a New York City nightclub. Davis supervised the production of her album, "Whitney Houston," which was released in 1985.

"Saving All My Love for You," "How Will I know" and "The Greatest Love of All" were among the singles in her album, which became hits.

"Saving All My Love for You" won her first Grammy Award, for best female pop vocal performance.

Her second album was "Whitney," in 1987 which became the first album by a woman to enter the Billboard charts at No. 1.

Her soundtrack album, "The Bodyguard," which include its hits like "I Will Always Love You," "I'm Every Woman," "I Have Nothing" and "Run To You" reached to 17 million copies for sale in the United States.

This untimely death of Whitney Houston caused some of her fans to "utter, total disbelief." They treated her as their legacy in the field of music. She inspired a lot of people, they said.

She was survived by her 18 year old daughter and her mother.
