They said those donated vehicles they received from PCSO are "intended to help the poor". They're firm to their words that those donations had "no malice" at all.
The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in a statement said, “we are sorry for the pain and sadness that these events have brought upon you [Catholic faithfuls].”
They made an amend by returning those hot vehicles they received and they are "ready to accept responsibility for their actions and to face the consequences if it would be proven unlawful, anomalous, and unconstitutional."
They claimed they had not violated any law. They expressed an apology and assured that "pastoral sensibilities are respected and the highest ethical standards are observed"

Reactions from some Filipinos (culled from pulse.yahoo.com):
"The Senate hearing is over, but it did not resolve anything... "You may let others believe your own lies but do you believe your own Lies?", relayed sangSemestrePaAbugadoNaS.
"They only say sorry when presented with strong evidence of wrongdoing like in the case of that bishop from Agusan and his infamous letter to his beloved president. This brewing issue is peanuts compared to the far more appalling abuses committed by the men in cloth against young boys over the years. Have you heard the bishops issuing a collective apology in this regard?," pointed out WILLIAM JAMES.
"The Catholich Church always says We are SORRY for everything they did that was deemed wrong by the people. From child molestation cases to requesting vehicles from the President of a country. They are supposed to be the example on moral valuation of integrity and good governance.." expressed Daniel.
Shalom!
